Human Resources Manager, Early Childhood Centers

CHS Central Office – Hershey, PA

The Human Resources Manager of Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning acts as a leader in managing the implementation of HR policies and procedures, developing sourcing strategies, managing staff selection, and supporting the administration of benefits. This individual will support the CHS Centers and the Central Office, collaborating regularly with the Recruiter, Center HR support, and Professional Development Manager. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Human Resources Director to discuss updates, progress, risks, and issues. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Administering compensation, benefits, leave plans, performance management, workforce planning, employee relations, etc. 

  • Expanding, revising, and communicating CHS-wide policies and procedures to Center HR support to ensure consistency across the organization and compliance with laws and regulations 

  • Implementing policies including PTO and flexible scheduling, as well as other related subjects for employees 

  • Ensuring positive employment relations and performance remediation as needed 

  • Overseeing the recruitment and hiring process for Central Office staff, including conducting phone screens & participating in interviews 

  • Gathering information to efficiently develop and implement sourcing strategies in collaboration with CHS marketing & established ad agencies 

  • Developing recruiting tools & resources including recruiting processes, candidate profiles, writing job postings, developing interviewing guides, and more 

  • Ensuring diversity initiatives are thoroughly integrated into sourcing efforts 

  • Collaborating with the recruiter to coordinate aligned sourcing strategies and recruitment events, and to support the hiring of CHS center staff 

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining a talent pipeline strategy, including establishing relationships with higher education institutions 

  • Establishing and maintaining a qualified, diverse employee workforce to meet CHS staffing goals 

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field 

  • PHR/SPHR certification is preferred 

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role 

  • Experience using HRIS and ATS systems (Peoplesoft experience is a plus) 

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, leveraging an empathetic and compassionate approach to HR that emphasizes people management 

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to managing peak work periods and changing priorities  

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities   

  • Responsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working for a mission-focused organization 

  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families (preferred) 

  • Ability to proactively identify problems and implement solutions  

  • Willingness to be held accountable and receive feedback 

  • Comfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or willingness to learn 

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, lead, and educate teams 

  • Commitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for students  

  • U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances
